Dog Handler Teams
Therapy dog work requires a team of two, the dog and the human handler, and your dog must be at least one year old. Your dog must be clean, well-groomed, in good health and up to date on all required shots. Your dog cannot jump up on or paw at people. As the handler, you must maintain complete control of your dog at all times. Therapy dogs are required to stay a minimum of 2 feet away from another therapy dog.
Even when we are having informal events, such as our membership meetings, the rules must be followed regarding the dogs.

We routinely visit facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, fire stations, police departments, schools, hospitals, retail stores and other locations. We schedule many of these on an ongoing basis and we also attend other events where we have been invited. Our teams frequently participate in parades and other events.

The Alliance of Therapy Dogs is a worldwide organization for therapy dog teams. They do background checks and we administer their testing for our teams. The cost to join is $30.00 per year.
